Who do I contact in an out of hours emergency?

You contact your coach operator details on your coach pass.  Hearn's 020 8954 5444, Southgate and Finchley 020 8368 0040, South Mimms Travel 01707 355555 (07917 191949)

Can I get on a coach if I don't normally use the coaches or want to go to a different stop from the one on my coach pass?

You may not board a different route to the ones on your coach pass unless you have a casual e-ticket for the stop which you wish to travel to. However if we do not travel to the stop detailed on your coach pass, at the time of day you wish to travel, you may use an alternative stop without the need for a casual ticket.

How do I get a casual ticket to travel on the coaches?

These are available through the parent portal.  These can be issued via email or printed if necessary. A charge will be made to your account if you don't normally use the coach or if there is a difference in the cost of your current stop and the new journey.

What do I do if my stop in not on a 3.30pm or 5.30pm coach?

You are entitled to use whichever stop is reasonable as an alternative.   

What happens if I am found travelling on the coaches without a casual ticket or coach pass?

A minimum £15 penalty charge is added to your billing and the school  informed so that appropriate action can be taken and details of the offence placed on your school record.

Is my coach stop the same in the morning and afternoon?

Not necessarily - we run just 8 coaches at 15:30 a more comprehensive service covering 33 routes at 16:15 and 13 coaches at 17:30 it is not therefore possible to cover all stops at all times.  You need to check the timetable and stop descriptors carefully to see where your nearest stop is at the time you wish to travel.

What do I do when I lose property on the coaches?

In the first instance lost property is placed on the lost property racks in the coach park by the office which students have access to at all times.  If it is of high value such as an instrument or mobile phone it will be in the office.  Ask one of the caretaking staff in attendance in the AFTERNOON to assist you if your lost property may have been placed inside the office.  If it is not located in the coach park check school lost property.  Most items are returned within 72 hours.   

What should I do if the service is disrupted due to adverse traffic or weather conditions?

In the first instance, if a coach fails to appear at its stop on time you should ring the coach operator (or in the case of the Pre-Prep your designated driver).  If the coach is on its way, but late, you should wait at the stop and inform the School  If there is an imperative to get to school before the coach is expected to arrive or if adverse road conditions result in a limited service, parents are expected to make every endeavour to get their children to school.

What do I do if my coach is late?

One of the passengers at the stop should contact the coach operator telephone numbers on your coach pass to establish the whereabouts of the coach and confirm what alternative arrangements are in place.  Let the Schools know that you will be late.

What do I do if I’ve missed my stop or got on the wrong coach?

Stay on the coach.  Never get off in an area unknown to you.  Advise the driver as soon as possible who will contact the office and make arrangements to take you to a place of safety to await collection. 

Junior and Prep school age children must always be met by a supervising adult.  Please impress upon this age group the importance of staying safe and to never get off without having sight of the person collecting them.  

What happens if I misbehave on the coaches?

You will be reported to your Form Tutor or Head of Year with a copy to the Deputy Head, appropriate action is taken and details placed on your school record.  If the incident is considered to be placing others at risk then the matter will be taken to the Deputy Head.  For serious incidents and repeat offenders then a ban from the coaches will be put in place.  Please be aware many coaches have CCTV fitted which will be used to monitor and record behaviours.

Do I have to wear a seat belt on the coaches?

Yes - It is a condition of travel with Haberdashers' Schools that all passengers, no matter what their age, wear a seat belt.

Can I eat and drink on the coaches?

No – food and drink consumption is not permitted on our coach service and all litter must be taken with you.

Do I need to tell you if my child travels on an earlier or later coach than normal?  

No - you may use any of the afternoon departure times without having to book a specific time.  Please note that the 15:30 service is for Prep and Junior Girls.  Older children may use this service if there are spaces but we do not guarantee a space for anyone other than Prep boys and Junior School Girls.

Do I have to stay with my Junior / Prep child to await the morning coach?

Yes, no Junior or Prep child should be without an adult waiting for their coach in the morning.

Can Reception Girls and Pre Prep Boys use the coach service?

No - Girls cannot use the service until they are in Year 3.  There is a separate Pre Prep Shuttle that runs between the sites, for details please speak with the Transport Manager.
